Amazon just did something unusual for an Indian festive sale: it printed the actual prices. The Great Indian Festival 2026 opens to everyone on October 8, and this time there is no guessing what the headline deals look like. The firm numbers are out, and a few of them are genuinely worth your money.
(Quick aside: Amazon keeps shouting “up to 40% off smartphones” and that phrase means nothing. Firm prices mean everything. The Galaxy Z Fold8 at Rs 1,79,999 for the 12GB/256GB model is a firm price. Start there.)
The phone deals that matter
The Fold8 price is the one that makes me pay attention. Foldables have spent years being luxury curiosities in India, and Rs 1,79,999 for Samsung’s latest Fold is still serious money, but it is a real, concrete cut from launch territory rather than a coupon-tower illusion. If you have been waiting for a foldable to become sane, this sale is your moment.
At the other end, the Galaxy M17e 5G at Rs 14,999 and the Galaxy M47 5G at Rs 30,999 are the kind of mid-range prices that actually move the market. The iQOO Z11 5G at Rs 39,999 sits right in the crowded 40k band where every brand is fighting, so check the bank offers before you decide. And the itel Zeno 100 Pro at Rs 7,739 is a reminder that 5G is now genuinely a sub-8k affair.
Electronics: one standout, several decent
The Mac Mini with the M6 chip at Rs 94,400, plus up to Rs 5,500 extra off with an instant bank discount, is the single best electronics price in this reveal. That machine under Rs 90,000 effective is a no-brainer for anyone building a home desk setup. The iPad Air M4 at Rs 67,999 is solid too, though I would watch the exchange offers for that one.
The bank-offer math you should do before checkout
Here is where most people leave money on the table. SBI credit and debit cards get a 10% instant discount during the sale. The Amazon Pay ICICI Bank credit card gives unlimited 5% cashback for Prime members (3% for everyone else). Prime members also get an extra Rs 250 cashback on lakhs of products. Stack the SBI discount with the card cashback on a big-ticket item like the Fold8 and the gap between the “up to 40% off” fantasy and the price you actually pay gets very wide, in your favour.
Flipkart is right behind, starting October 9
Do not buy blind on the 8th without checking the rival. Flipkart’s Big Billion Days 2026 runs from October 9, with early access on October 8 for Plus, VIP and Black members. The confirmed teasers: iPhone 17 below Rs 80,000, Galaxy S25 under Rs 60,000, Galaxy S25 FE under Rs 50,000, Nothing Phone (4a) at an effective Rs 32,999 and the (4b) at Rs 27,999, Motorola Edge 70 Fusion at Rs 29,999 and Edge 70 Pro at Rs 36,999. Up to 10% instant discount on Axis and ICICI cards there.
My take: the two sales are deliberately a day apart so you compare. Shortlist on Amazon’s reveal, verify against Flipkart’s early access on the 8th, then buy. Anyone who buys a 40k phone on the first hour of the first sale without checking the other one is volunteering to overpay.
Update (Oct 6): Flipkart’s headline laptop deal is the MacBook Air M5 at Rs 1,24,990 — a Rs 15,000 bank offer off the page price — sweetened by a Rs 99 add-on bundling two years of protection with up to 50% assured buyback.
Verdict
Three deals I would actually pull the trigger on: the Mac Mini M6 under Rs 90,000 effective, the Galaxy M17e 5G at Rs 14,999 for anyone needing a cheap 5G phone, and the Fold8 at Rs 1,79,999 if you are already foldable-curious. Everything else, run the bank-offer math first.
