One year apart, same name, very different bill. The Oppo Find X10 starts at Rs 1,39,999 in India. The Find X9 it replaces started at Rs 74,999. That is not a routine yearly hike. That is Rs 65,000 extra, and it forces a simple question. What exactly do you get for almost double the money?

This Oppo Find X10 vs Find X9 comparison is really about whether those camera and battery gains are worth paying almost double.

The short answer is cameras. Almost everything else on the Find X10 is a step forward, some of it useful, some of it hard to notice in daily use. The cameras are not a small step though. They are the whole argument for this phone.

Price first, because it changes everything else

Find X10: Rs 1,39,999 for 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, Rs 1,69,999 for the 512GB model. Sales start October 29.

Find X9: launched at Rs 74,999 for 12GB and 256GB, and Rs 84,999 for 16GB and 512GB. Street prices today are lower than launch, which makes the gap look even wider than it already is.

Keep that gap in mind through every section below. A better camera on a phone that costs a bit more is an easy recommendation. A better camera on a phone that costs nearly twice as much needs to prove itself.

Cameras are where the money went

The Find X9 had a sensible flagship setup. A 50MP main camera, a 50MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom, and a 50MP ultrawide. Good hardware, nothing embarrassing.

The Find X10 throws that out.

Its main camera is now 200MP with OIS, using the same large 1/1.4 inch sensor size. The telephoto is also 200MP, a periscope unit with 2.8x optical zoom and a much larger 1/1.56 inch sensor than the X9’s 1/1.95 inch unit. The ultrawide stays at 50MP. Up front, the selfie camera jumps from 32MP to 50MP, and it gets autofocus and a wider lens.

Video tells the same story. The X10 records 8K at 30fps. The X9 topped out at 4K. Oppo has also added LUT preview, which matters if you actually grade your footage and means nothing if you do not.

In plain terms, zoom shots and low light shots should hold far more detail on the X10, and the larger telephoto sensor is the change I would care about most. Megapixels make headlines. Sensor size does the work.

If camera quality is not your top priority, honestly, most of the reason to pay for this phone disappears right here. We covered the X10 on its own in our Oppo Find X10 review, and the camera system was the part that justified talking about it at all.

Display and design: nicer, not different

Both phones use a 6.59 inch screen, which keeps them on the manageable side for flagships. The X10 moves to an LTPO AMOLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate and a slightly sharper 1272 x 2772 resolution. The X9 used a regular AMOLED at 120Hz and 1256 x 2760.

Peak brightness is identical at 3600 nits. The X10 is a touch brighter in high brightness mode, 2000 nits against 1800, and it swaps Gorilla Glass 7i for Oppo’s Crystal Guard. You will notice the smoother refresh rate while scrolling. You will not notice the resolution difference. Nobody will.

The body gives away where the new hardware went. The X10 weighs 216 grams and is 8.4mm thick. The X9 was 203 grams and 8mm. Thirteen grams does not sound like much until you use the phone one handed on a train. Both phones carry IP68 and IP69 ratings, both have aluminium frames and glass backs, and both feel properly premium.

Colours change too. Glacier Blue, Glow Coral and Mist Grey for the X10. The X9 came in Space Black, Titanium Grey, Velvet Red and White.

Full spec sheets are compared on GSMArena.

Performance: a newer chip, a familiar story

Inside the X10 sits the Dimensity 9600M, a 3nm chip. The X9 ran the Dimensity 9500, also 3nm. Clock speeds on paper look nearly identical, so expect an incremental gain rather than a transformation. Gaming and heavy multitasking were already fast on the X9.

Software is a cleaner difference. The X10 ships with Android 17 and ColorOS 17. The X9 launched on Android 16 and ColorOS 16, with a promise of five major Android updates, so it will keep receiving new versions for years. Buying the X9 today does not leave you stranded on old software.

Storage is UFS 4.1 on both, there is no memory card slot on either, and the X10 drops the 16GB RAM option at 256GB that the X9 offered. Its 1TB model also adds satellite connectivity, a feature most buyers in India will never use.

For a closer look at how the older phone holds up, our Oppo Find X9 review called it a battery king in a compact body, and that description still fits.

Battery: the second real win

This is the other upgrade that matters day to day. The X10 packs an 8,000mAh battery in global trim, up from 7,025mAh on the X9. That is a big cell in a phone this size, and it is the main reason the X10 is heavier.

Charging speeds have not moved. You get 80W wired, 50W wireless and 10W reverse wireless on both phones. So the X10 lasts longer, but it does not fill up any faster.

Small extras round out the list. Bluetooth goes from 6.0 to 6.2, the USB port moves to the faster 3.2 standard, and the X10 adds a barometer. Stereo speakers, NFC, an infrared port and an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint reader are present on both.

Oppo Find X10 vs Find X9: the quick take

On paper the Find X10 wins almost every round: cameras, battery, display and software. On price the Find X9 wins by a distance. Which of those matters more decides this one.

So, which one should you buy?

Buy the Find X10 if cameras sit at the top of your list and your budget genuinely stretches to Rs 1,40,000. The dual 200MP setup, the bigger telephoto sensor, 8K video and the larger battery make it a clearly better phone. Whether it is a better purchase at this price is a separate matter, and if you want Oppo’s full camera statement, the Oppo Find X10 Pro Max review shows what another Rs 60,000 buys you, which puts the X10 in an odd middle spot.

In an Oppo Find X10 vs Find X9 choice, buy the Find X9 if you want most of the same experience for far less money. Same screen size, same charging, a chip that is still fast, good cameras, and years of software support left. At current street prices it is the smarter spend for almost everyone.

Skip the upgrade if you already own a Find X9. The camera jump is real, but trading in a one year old flagship and paying the difference for it is hard to justify unless zoom photography is your hobby.

The Find X10 is not a bad phone. It is a good phone wearing a price tag that invites comparisons Oppo may not enjoy, starting with its own last model.
