Tecno has officially taken the wraps off the Tecno Pova 8, a smartphone that puts battery life front and center while adding a few eye-catching design elements along the way. The new device arrives with an enormous 8,000mAh battery, a 144Hz display, and a new rear notification system that Tecno calls the Alive Matrix Display.

While most smartphone launches focus on slimmer designs or more camera lenses, Tecno seems to be targeting users who simply want a phone that can last for days without constantly looking for a charger.

A Design That Stands Out

The first thing you’ll notice about the Pova 8 is its rear panel. The camera module has a triangular layout that gives the phone a futuristic look. At first glance, it appears to house three camera sensors, but one of those circular elements is actually a tiny dot-matrix display.

Called the Alive Matrix Display, it lights up for notifications, incoming calls, charging status, and other alerts. It’s a small addition, but it helps the phone stand out in a market where many devices look nearly identical.

Tecno is also offering the device in four colours: Arc White, Graphite Black, Helios Orange, and Echo Green. The phone carries an IP64 rating, which means it can handle dust and occasional splashes of water.

The Biggest Highlight Is the Battery

If there’s one feature likely to grab attention, it’s the battery capacity. Tecno has packed an 8,000mAh battery inside the Pova 8, making it one of the largest batteries currently available in a mainstream smartphone.

For everyday users, that could translate into up to two days of usage on a single charge. Whether you’re watching videos, scrolling through social media, gaming, or working on the move, the phone is designed to keep going long after many other devices need charging.

The company also says the battery has been built with long-term durability in mind. According to Tecno, it can maintain more than 80 percent of its original health even after 2,000 charging cycles.

Charging Support

  • 45W wired fast charging
  • 10W reverse wired charging
  • 50% charge in around 35 minutes

One feature that won’t be returning is wireless charging. Tecno has decided to remove it from the Pova 8, despite offering it on the previous generation.

Large Display With a 144Hz Refresh Rate

On the front, the device features a 6.76-inch IPS LCD display with Full HD+ resolution. The panel supports a 144Hz refresh rate, which should make everyday interactions feel smoother, whether you’re scrolling through apps or playing games.

Tecno has also included its Wet & Oily Finger Touch Recognition technology. In simple terms, the screen is designed to remain responsive even when your fingers aren’t completely dry.

Dimensity 7100 Powers the Phone

Under the hood, the Pova 8 is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 7100 processor. The chipset is paired with up to 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 256GB of storage.

To keep temperatures under control, Tecno has fitted a large graphite cooling system inside the phone. The company claims this helps maintain stable performance during longer gaming sessions.

The device ships with HiOS 16 based on Android 16 straight out of the box.

50MP Main Camera Included

For photography, Tecno has equipped the Pova 8 with a 50MP Sony Lytia 600 primary camera. The sensor supports autofocus and can also provide a 2x zoom effect using high-resolution image cropping.

Meanwhile, a 13MP front-facing camera handles selfies and video calls.

While the camera setup isn’t the main selling point of the device, it should be more than enough for everyday photography and social media use.

Price and Availability

The Tecno Pova 8 is already available for pre-order through Flipkart, with official sales scheduled to begin on June 18.

  • 6GB RAM + 128GB storage – ₹30,000
  • 8GB RAM + 128GB storage – ₹32,000

What Makes the Pova 8 Different?

In a market filled with smartphones that often look and feel the same, the Pova 8 takes a slightly different approach. Instead of focusing solely on cameras or benchmark scores, Tecno is putting the spotlight on battery life, a distinctive design, and practical day-to-day usability.

For users who spend long hours away from a charger, that massive 8,000mAh battery could easily be the feature that makes the biggest difference.
