Vivo did not flinch. The Vivo X Fold 6 price in India is Rs 2,19,999, exactly what the leaks said it would be, and the phone is now officially launched in the country. Vivo announced it at today’s vivo NEXT 2026 event in a single 12GB + 512GB configuration, in Nebula Teal and Prism Black, with the first sale on October 13 through the Vivo India e-store. Pre-bookings are already live.

I called this price a leap last week, and it still is. The X Fold 5 launched at Rs 1,59,999. Vivo has added Rs 60,000 in one generation. That is the kind of number that needs a very good justification, and to be fair, the spec sheet does its best to provide one.

Vivo X Fold 6 price in India, sale date and launch offers

Rs 2,19,999 buys you the only variant there is: 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Vivo is not doing the usual 256GB stepping stone, which is a strange choice at this price but at least it is honest. What you see is what you get.

The launch offers are where Vivo softens the blow. Offline buyers get up to Rs 26,400 instant cashback, an EMI plan starting at Rs 7,333 a month for 30 months with zero down payment, up to 12 percent V-Upgrade exchange bonus, and up to 40 percent off V-Shield screen damage protection. Online buyers can pick up to 10 percent exchange bonus or 24 months of no-cost EMI. Everyone gets three months of Google AI Pro thrown in. And here is the detail that caught my eye: pre-bookers get priority access to Vivo Vision experience zones, because Vivo also teased its Vision mixed-reality headset on stage today. More on that when there is an actual product to talk about.

The foldable shared the stage with the Vivo V80 and Vivo S2 FE, which launched at the same event. If your budget stops well below two lakh, those are the phones to look at.

That 200MP Zeiss camera is the real story

The hardware is genuinely impressive, and the camera is the headline. Vivo has replaced the X Fold 5’s triple-50MP setup with a 200MP main camera with OIS and Zeiss T coating, joined by a 50MP ultrawide and a 50MP periscope telephoto with 3x optical zoom. There are 20MP selfie cameras on both the inner and cover displays. Vivo will even sell a 200mm teleconverter accessory for it, which is the kind of nerdy flex foldables almost never get.

Foldable cameras have always been the compromise. You paid for the hinge and accepted a camera a tier below the flagship. Vivo is arguing you should not have to anymore. Whether the 200MP sensor delivers in real light is a review question, but on paper this is the most ambitious camera ever put on a folding phone.

6,900mAh is absurd. In the best way.

The other big number is the battery. A 6,900mAh cell in a phone that folds to 9.4mm and weighs 228 grams. For context, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 manages 4,800mAh. That is not a small gap, it is a chasm, and battery anxiety is the single biggest complaint foldable owners actually have.

Charging is 80W wired plus 40W wireless, so the big cell does not take forever to fill. Vivo’s BlueVolt silicon-carbon battery tech is doing the heavy lifting here, and the result is the first foldable you could plausibly take on a weekend trip without the charger.

Everything else: Dimensity 9500, IP ratings, that hinge

Performance comes from MediaTek’s 3nm Dimensity 9500 Super Edition, a chip Vivo says was tuned specifically for foldables and AI workloads. The inner display is an 8.02-inch 2K+ LTPO AMOLED, the cover is 6.51 inches, both run at 120Hz with 5,000 nits peak brightness. The phone runs OriginOS 7 on Android 17 out of the box.

Durability is where Vivo quietly embarrasses the competition. IP58 and IP59 dust and water resistance on a foldable is genuinely rare. The hinge is rated for 600,000 folds. Samsung’s foldables have historically been the ones you worried about near water. This one you just use.

The honest take

So. Rs 2,19,999. Let me put it plainly. This is the most complete foldable anyone has built this year: the best foldable camera system, the biggest foldable battery, real water resistance, and a hinge that should outlast your interest in the phone. If you are buying a foldable in India in October 2026, this is the spec sheet to beat.

But the price hike stings, and I will not pretend it does not. The X Fold 5 at Rs 1,59,999 felt like Vivo picking a fight with Samsung. The X Fold 6 at Rs 2,19,999 feels like Vivo picking a fight with your savings account. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 sits at Rs 1,79,999, a full Rs 40,000 less, and while its cameras and battery cannot touch the X Fold 6 on paper, forty thousand rupees is forty thousand rupees. Samsung is not standing still either: the Galaxy S27 Ultra is already leaking ahead of next year.

An aside, and I mean this sincerely: the single-variant strategy worries me more than the price. At Rs 2,19,999 with no 256GB option, Vivo is asking every buyer to pay for 512GB of storage whether they need it or not. Choice is good. This is not choice, it is a take-it-or-leave-it.

Who should buy it? Foldable enthusiasts who want the best hardware available right now and do not blink at the price. Everyone else should wait. Foldables drop in price faster than slab phones, and the festive season has a way of finding the real number. If the X Fold 6 is sitting near Rs 1.9 lakh with bank offers by Diwali, revisit this conversation.
