Both Class 10 and Class 12 exams begin on February 16, 2027, the Central Board of Secondary Education announced on Friday, November 6.

Class 10 papers run from February 16 to March 9, a 22-day window, while Class 12 stretches nearly eight weeks, ending on April 9. Every paper starts at 10:30 am. More than 46 lakh students have registered for the two exams, according to Business Standard, making this one of the largest school examination exercises anywhere in the world.
Class 10 opens with Painting on February 16, then Mathematics on February 17, Science on February 22 and English on February 26. Class 12 begins with Physics on the same opening day, followed by Accountancy on February 23, Chemistry on February 27, English Core on March 5 and Mathematics on March 9. Economics falls on March 16, Biology on March 25 and History on March 27, according to the schedule published by Republic World.
The 101-day head start
Here is the detail that tells you how CBSE sees this year. The board released the datesheets 101 days before the first paper, nine days earlier than last year’s 110-day lead, according to Business Standard. That is not a clerical footnote. It is a deliberate choice, and it matters because the 2027 exams are the second year of the two-board system for Class 10 under the National Education Policy 2020. Students now get a second shot at their Class 10 papers, and the board has had a full cycle to learn what the new system does to timetables, schools and students.
The datesheets were drawn up only after schools finished submitting their List of Candidates, the final record of which subjects each student is actually taking, NDTV Profit reported. Class 10 covers 83 subjects and Class 12 covers 121. That is the unglamorous machinery behind a date sheet, and it is why the board could publish this early.
Practicals start next week, so the clock is already running
This is the part students should not miss while staring at February dates. CBSE has also fixed the practical examinations and internal assessments for both classes from November 9 to December 19, 2026, according to NDTV Profit. That means the exam season does not begin in February. It begins on Monday, in school labs and classrooms, with marks that count.

Download the PDF for your class, save it, and check your subject dates against your own list. Do not trust screenshots doing the rounds on WhatsApp and Telegram groups. Within hours of every CBSE announcement, doctored timetables start circulating, and a forwarded image is not a date sheet. The board’s own website is the only source that counts.
